Ancient Wisdom for Modern Life

“Jyotish” is anciently interpreted in the 5000+ year old Vedas as “The Science of Light”

Jyotish is the ancient study of time, cycles, and our place within the vast consciousness of the cosmos as recorded by sages over the millennia.

This study of cycles is now often called “vedic astrology,” but this is a generally misunderstood term in our times. While some terms and symbols are shared, the cosmology substantially and mathematically differs from western tropical pop astrology.

The Vedas have been relied upon by some of the greatest minds of our times—as they’ illuminated the vast map of our cosmos well before the Western “Enlightenment” made it’s “discoveries” in cosmology, physics, and mathematics from the start. The heliocentric solar system, the number of planets within it, and even details such as the precise distance between earth, sun and moon were clearly laid out millenia before the west martyred Galileo.

The Vedas instruct us in the music of the spheres that create the cymatics that rule our realm, and show how we can peacefully participate in the dance.

“Some of the greatest minds in physics—Oppenheimer, Schrödinger, Heisenberg, and Tesla—spoke of how reading the Vedas and the Bhagavad Gita shaped their understanding of reality.  Schrödinger affirmed that ‘most of my ideas and theories were heavily influenced by Vedanta,’ and Heisenberg found that these ancient texts unlocked deeper insight into quantum theory. Tesla even described the cosmic substance in Sanskrit terms—‘ākāśa’ and ‘prāṇa’—echoing the Vedic vision that matter and energy are woven in an eternal dance.”

These references are a testament to how deeply the Vedas record a vision of our universe—an insight that modern science continues to rediscover.

VedicArts.org offers a practical, accessible approach to this ancient wisdom for western minds seeking practical ways to release tension and frustration and align and harmonize with the natural flow of life. Jyotishis advise much as a music teacher works with a student to understand and connect the song with their instrument. Together, we discover our own calm center of clarity, wholeness, and purpose—from the inside out.
